[Class 44.] A sliding shackle 14 of a padlock is held in the locked position by a spring or spring- pressed pawl 27 engaging a shoulder 21 on the bolt 17, as well as by spring-pressed levers 28. In unlocking, the levers 28 disengage the spring 27 from the shoulder 21.
