375,918. Charging vessels with liquid carbon dioxide. KIDDE & CO., Inc., W:, 140, Cedar Street, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Freygang, W. H. ; 12, Born Place, Weehawken, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 20, 1931, No. 11612. Convention date, May 7, 1930. [Classes 8 (ii) and 102 (i).] A pressure-producing means such as a pump 15 draws liquid carbon dioxide under its own vapour pressure from a container 46 through a conduit, and delivers it to a receiving container 35. The pump is driven by an electric motor 2 through gearing 6, 7, and a connecting rod and a crosshead 11. The piston has ports controlled by a valve 18, and the liquid is delivered by a ball valve 21 to a passage 25 having a safety disc 27 and leading to the flexible hose 30 having a control valve 32. The container 35 has also a hand-controlled valve 34 and rests on a scale pan 47 by which its degree of filling may be seen. The liquid from the delivery container 46 passes through a strainer in the delivery pipe.
