Abstract
375,468. Machinery guards. ROBINSON & SON, Ltd., T., ROBINSON, C. J., and TWEEDALE, J., Railway Works, Rochdale. April 16, 1931, No. 11227. [Class 80 (iv).] Guards for circular saws, gearing, pulleys, and other rotating members are formed in two parts 13, 16, of which the back part 13 is flat or is flanged on its upper edge and the front part 16 is flanged to pass over the saw edge and the edge of the part 13 or to butt against the flange on the part 13. The guard-parts are provided with lugs 14, 18, respectively, engaging a non-circular supporting-bar 11 vertically adjustable in a standard 6, and the lugs 18 are bushed to enable the part 16, which is secured in place by a screw 15, to be swung to permit access to the saw. A spring buffer such as 22 may serve to cushion the guard-part against rattling, either in the open or closed position. An adjustable extension-piece 21 may be secured to the part 16.
