[Class 142 (ii).] In a dummy shuttle or weft carrier for use in shuttleless looms, the passage between a weft-engaging horn and the body of the shuttle is formed with a constriction which readily permits the passage of a weft loop during its engagement with the horn but prevents the loop from springing out after its engagement. The constriction may be formed by providing on the horn or on the body of the shuttle a tooth 21, Fig. 1, which may be arranged to enter a groove in the complementary member, as shown in Fig. 9, the latter construction causing a kinking of the thread as it passes into the horn. In a modified form, a tooth 28, Fig. 8, provided on the base 15 of the horn, projects into a hole 29 on the shank of the horn and prevents escape of the loop after being caught and led to the grooved base of the carrier.
