374,757. Watertight paper cartons and like containers. JAGENBERGWERKE AKT.-GES., 107, Himmelgeisterstrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. Nov. 3, 1931, No. 30439. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1930. [Classes 66 and 94 (ii).] A watertight paper carton or like container a is enlarged upwardly and has a circular cross section at the bottom and a square cross section at the top. The carton is made by rolling a blank around a tapered mandrel, glueing the seam, and folding and glueing the smaller end over the flange of a dished inserted bottom piece, and is then brought to square form at the top by inserting it in a suitable hollow die. A filler member which corresponds to the height of the liquid contents is then inserted in the vessel, and the top portions are folded over to form the creases e, after which the top is unfolded and the filler member is removed. The closure creases thus preformed may be easily reformed after filling, and the closure is completed by a sheet metal sealing clamp f. The carton may be formed from waterproof paper or may be paraffined after being formed.
