Abstract

372,426. Washing air and other gases. KOHL, H., 1, Josef H÷flegasse, Baden, near Vienna. Feb. 14, 1931, No. 4773. [Class 55 (ii).] The gases are led by a pipe 3 and bells 5, 6 into water and pass through a filter 9 of sponge rubber and through layers of froth formed between perforated plates 14, to an outlet 4 protected by a dust filter 21. The filter 9 is covered by a plate or flange 10 with perforations increasing in size towards the outer edge. Perforations 16 in the froth-catching plates are bent downwards at their edges 17, and may be covered with fine sieves. A suction motor 22 is mounted in a double casing 23, 24, above the water container 1; and a domeshaped extension 30 of the outer casing 23 is formed with an inturned outlet nozzle 31 covered with a soft elastic mass 32 to deaden sound. In a modification, the inlet pipe 3 carries no bell; and in another modification the pipe 3 extends upwards within an inverted bell.
