Abstract
372,204. Wind speed indicators. PINTSCH AKT.-GES., J., 71, Andreasstrasse Berlin. Aug. 28, 1931, No. 24293. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1930. [Class 97 (iii).] In a wind speed and direction indicating device for aerodromes, the speed of the wind is indicated by the frequency of flashing of a lamp or by the rate of rotation of a rotatably mounted lamp. In the form shown the spindle of the cup anemometer A carries a cam shaped contact disc B adapted once in each revolution to engage a contact lever H and close the circuit of a relay D which in turn closes the circuit of the lamp E. With this arrangement the duration of the flash increases as the wind speed decreases and provides an additional indication. The relay D may be dispensed with. Alternatively a lamp projecting a horizontal beam may be mounted on and adapted to rotate with the spindle of the anemometer. The wind speed indicating devices are combined with an illuminated wind vane.
