[Class 64 (i).] In heaters for water or other fluids the gas burner b heats one part c of a pair of metal parts c, d separated by a small space packed with small metal balls or other pieces e, the other part d being in contact with the fluid to be heated. The object is to set up a sufficient heat gradient between the burner side and the fluid side to render the wall c too hot for moisture from the gas flame to condense on it. Baffles f may be provided in the flue formed by part c. Specification 147,732, [Class 64 (i), Heating liquids &c.], is referred to.
