370,534. Fuel - injection pumps . HOLM, 0., 18, I Klosterallee, Hamburg, Germany. Jan. 22, 1931, No. 2207. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1930. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection or other pump of the type in which the suction passage d is controlled by the pump piston f and the discharge passage m is controlled by a second piston c, the upward movement of the piston c is limited by a fixed stop and the downward movement by an adjustable stop. The piston c is pressed downwards by a spring b and carries a collar a, which limits the upward movement, and a yoke q, which limits the downward movement by engagement with a wedge l adjustable by hand or by a governor. The wedge l may be replaced by a rotatable sector with a helical surface engaging the yoke q. The piston f may be formed with a groove or passage for connecting the pressure chamber to the suction port at the end of the discharge stroke. Alternatively the piston c may be positively driven by means of linkwork or otherwise, or by an independent shaft. In the latter case the driving shafts of the pistons f, c may be relatively adjustable by means of worm gearing.
