370,027. Feeding appliances for animals. DOD, M. R., 27, Downview Road, West Worthing, Sussex. Nov. 25, 1930, No. 35474. [Class 5 (ii).] A teat for a feeding bottle for animals comprises a hollow ellipsoidal or spherical rubber member 3 formed with a nipple 4 having a discharge orifice 5. A disc valve 6 seats on a washer 11 on the neck 2 of the bottle, and is constrained in its upward movement by a cap 9 threaded to the neck and apertured at 10 to allow egress of liquid. In use, suction is unnecessary, repeated inward and outward movement of the teat resulting in a flow of liquid past the valve. The action of the valve 6 may be controlled by a guide-pin projecting downwards from the top 8 of the cap. A cupped portion 6a may be formed with an orifice 6b to allow surplus liquid to drain back into the bottle but insufficient in size to affect the non-return function of the valve. In a modification, Fig. 4, the member 3 is spherical and is formed with restricted neck portions 15, 16. A rubber &c. flap valve 17 is arranged on a seating 16a, or a disc valve may be used, being prevented from moving upwards by pins or wires. In another form, a flap valve may seat on the interior surface of the member 3.
