Addition to 319,242, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.]. [Class 38 (v).] Relates to the protection of heavy current installations by superimposing on them a frequency dependent on that of their natural frequency so that when the natural frequency changes on fault a change in the superimposed frequency takes place, and, acting on a relay isolates the faulty circuit or apparatus, as described in the parent Specification. According to the present invention, instead of employing filter circuits to separate the protected part from the remainder of the plant a high-frequency oscillation generator H impresses by inductive coupling equal tensions (with a phase displacement of 180‹ in relation to each other) on the one hand on the part of the plant to be protected W, and, on the other hand, upon a winding W2 in the connection between W1 and the remainder of the plant. The points A and C are thus points of equal potential in respect of the superimposed frequency and external faults do not affect the action of the relay R which responds only to a fault in the protected part W1.
