Abstract
367,298. Sewing-machines. WALDES, J., PUC, H., MERYINGER, E., and WALDES, Z., (trading as WALDES & CO.), Wrsehowitz, Prague. July 31, 1931, No. 21936. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1930. [Class 112.] Machines for sewing fasteners on tapes.- A feeler moving vertically and horizontally is provided for ensuring that the needle does not foul the fasteners during sewing. The feeler has two or more teeth and a needle guide. A baseplate fastened to the sewing machine carries bearings 2, 4 for a shaft 5 which has an arm 6. One end of the arm can be adjusted at a bearing 3 by means of the slot and bolt 8. The shaft 5 carries a second arm 9 adjustable at a bearing 11 by a bolt 10. A shaft 12 is carried by the arm 6. Driving wheels 13, 14 mesh with pinions 15, 16 to drive the shafts 5, 12, the shaft 5 making six revolutions to one revolution of the shaft 12. The shaft 12 carries an eccentric spigot 12<1> engaging a link 28 boltedto the rod 25. On rotation of the shafts 5, 12, the free end of the rod 25 moves to and fro in the direction of feed and periodically rises and falls. A feeler 29 is secured to the free end of the rod 25, the lower end being toothed and having a needle deflector 30 by which the edge of the needle 31 is guided. The device is adjusted so that a wire part of the eye 32 lies in a notch of the lowered feeler, while the feeler allows the eye to pass in the raised position. In sewing, the eyes are moved out of the path of the needle, which is guided to pierce the fabric at the side of the eye by the deflector 30.
