364,926. Water gas plant. POWERGAS CORPORATION, Ltd., Parkfield Works, RAMBUSH, N. E., Ivy Bank, West Villas, and BALLINGHALL, J. M., 69, Richmond Road, all in Stockton-on-Tees. March 6,1931, No. 6966. [Class 55 (i).] In a water gas plant, liquid seals are provided on ducts leading downwards from 'zones of potential explosion for the purposes of guarding against the latter and allowing of dust removal. Ducts 12 .. 16 dip into a water trough 61 from the generator 1, carburettor 2, superheater 3, and waste heat boiler 4 respectively of a water gas plant. The extended shell 17 of a washer 6 also dips into the trough. If tarry matter is present a seal box 5 is provided. Gases enter the latter by pipe 18 and the water level is maintained by water flowing from a flushing tank 20 to a nozzle 22 at the bottom of the seal box. Dust and tar is forced into the trough 61 through an overflow pipe 25 and the liquid level in the seal is kept constant by adjusting the rate of flow of flushing liquid from the tank 20.
