[Classes 6 (iii) and 58.] To enable a combined reaping and thrashing machine to be used for lifting and thrashing swaths of previously cut corn a lifting device is substituted for the usual cutting devices and reel. The main frame 10 is carried by an axle 11 on wheels 12, 13 and supports a thrashing device 16, 17 having a feeding device 24 to which the grain is fed from the platform by a transverse convever 23. The reel and the knife-bar of the cutting member are removed and a bar 27 is secured at each end of the main platform. A shaft 31 mounted in brackets on these bars is provided at each end with a disc 32, shafts 33 carrying tines 34 extending between these discs and each being provided at its grainward end with a crank 35 carrying a roller 36 adapted to engage a cam member 38 fixed to the grainward bar 27. Springs 37 between adjacent cranks hold the rollers against the cam. The grain lifted by the tines 34 is carried over flexible deck strip members 49, surrounding the raking member and supported by flexible brackets 48, on to deck extension strips 50 and so to the conveyer 23. The ends 56 of the strips 50 are rounded to permit the grain to pass transversely. To pack the grain down on the grain deck flexible and resilient strips 54 are carried above the strips 50 by a cross member 55 and a floating transverse bar 53. The raking structure is supported on shoes 57 pivoted to the frame bars 27 at their forward ends and connected to the bars at their rear ends by vertically adjustable brackets 58. In a modification the grain is delivered from the strips 50 on to a roller and thence to the conveyer. The raking device is driven from a sprocket wheel attached to the grain wheel of the machine.
