Abstract

363,419. Cycle instrument &c. mountings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and GRIFFITHS, L., Kennington, Biggin' Hall Crescent, Coventry. Sept. 24, 1930, No. 28618. [Class 136 (i).] A combined instrument panel and head-lamp bracket for motor cycles &c. comprises a substantially flat and rigid panel 1 having integral arms 1a supporting the head-lamp 2, integral clips 5 for attachment to the handle-bar &c. of the vehicle, and accommodation thereon for mounting the usual switches and instruments, whereby the panel, lamp, switches, and instru. ments can be assembled as a single unit for attachment to the vehicle. The panel 1 and arms 1a are made of sheet metal folded down at the sides to give rigidity. The handle-bar is clamped, by means of screws 6 and nuts, between the spring clips 5 and metal blocks 3 fixed to the panel by screws 4. The main control switch 8 and ammeter 9 are connected to the lamp and usual generator and battery by cables 10. To provide for the " dipping " of the lamp, studs 15 thereon are mounted in resilient rubber bushes, so as to permit a small angular movement, and the lamp is connected by a rod 12 to a pin on a rotary plate 13 provided with an operating lever 14.
