Abstract

363,077. Pitot-tube apparatus. MORRIS, C. V., 41, Beechfield Road, Davenport, Stockport. Nov. 8, 1930, No. 33622. [Class 69 (i).] In a measuring apparatus of the kind comprising a flow tube in which is arranged a Pitot-tube and which is connected to a pressure-operated measuring instrument or gauge, the flow tube is provided with removable means for restricting the passage in the flow tube and the measuring instrument is provided with one or more additional calibrations corresponding with the further readings obtainable on the gauge with each such removable means. The removable means comprises a compensator tube n having a bevelled mouthpiece o and detachably fitted in a flow tube a, the tube n being provided with a bent lug p which is engaged by a pin m in the flow tube a. The Pitot-tube f is provided with a web g which fits into the end of the tube n provided on its outside with a collar r part of which is cut away to leave three ribs s. Secured to the top of the tube a is a conduit h connected at one end, where a valve i is provided, to the tube g and at the other end by a nipple k and nut l to a gauge t provided with two indicators, one' a " static " pressure gauge with a pointer t<1>, Fig. 6, and the other a 50 lb. pressure gauge with a pointer t<2> and flowcalibrations t<3>, t<4> on the dial. When the rate of flow is below the first reading on the scale t<3>, a manometer tube with a double set of calibrations is substituted for the gauge t.
