Abstract

361,656. Brakes. JONES, A. J. M., 167, North Road, Ferndale, Glamorgan. Dec. 13, 1930, No. 37624. [Class 103 (i).] A device for preventing re- .verse movement of a shaft - comprises brake shoes C pivoted at D upon a disc freely mounted on the shaft A and provided with projections C<1> arranged for engagement with lugs B secured to the shaft. With the shaft rotating in the normal clockwise direction, the shoes with the disc are carried around by the lugs B but if the shaft tends to reverse the lugs engage an eccentric face on the shoes which are thus forced against a fixed drum F. The device may be used in connection with conveyer belts or bucket elevators.
