Abstract

360,740. Springs. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Jan. 8, 1931, No. 736. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1930. [Class 108 (iii).] A single or multiple helical spring, particularly for shaft couplings, is made by cutting a tube of spring metal, particularly steel, by a guided cutting burner. The tube, which may be cylindrical, conical or curved, is secured to the face-plate of a lathe and the burner is adjustably secured to the top slide. A hole may be first drilled in the wall of the tube for the start of the cut, so that a double helical spring with closed rings 5, 6 at its ends may be produced.
