Abstract

360,020. Valve-actuating mechanism. GRAVELY, B. F., Route 1, Point Pleasant, Dunbar, West Virginia, U.S.A. July 31, 1930, No. 23067. [Class 135.] A rotatable barrel throttle valve 20 with needle valve 28, for carburetters, is adapted also to be moved axially during rotation so as to vary the fuel conjointly with the air. This is effected by slitting the valve transversely as at 24, 25 from the longitudinal slit 21 for a distance of about one-third of the circumference. The part 27 between the slits is grooved at 23 and, being flexible, is adapted to be deformed by a screw 26 to convert the groove into a cam groove engaged by the end of a screw 28, Fig. 2.
