[Class 20 (i).] Tents of the kind having inflatable ribs, have the ribs less extensible on the inner face, or of curved shape when deflated, so that on inflation they assume the naturally curved condition required. In one form, two tubular ribs b are used crossing over each other at the apex, where they are secured together by a nipple c, while in another form separate tubes are used joined together at the apex by a union-piece. All the tubes may be inflated through a single nipple or each tube separately and the exhaust gases of a motor vehicle may be used for this purpose. The tubes are of rubber-treated or rubber-lined canvas, and have secured to their walls inextensible strips g provided with folds g<1>, Fig. 8, for attachment of the covering material, or separate flaps may be attached to the ribs for this purpose. The flaps may be secured to the inside of a rib and the inextensible strip 7 to the outside over the joint 8, and the tube then turned inside out. The inextensible strips may be secured to the outer canvas covers of the ribs. The free ends of the ribs are secured in screw clamps j having resilient gripping pieces l. Ventilation for the tent is provided through the apex at n, and a reinforcing arched member u is provided over the entrance flaps in the cover and these flaps may be secured together by an alligator fastening.
