[Class 52 (iv).] A metal base frame for an upholstery spring assembly is of S-shaped section providing a main channel A<1> to house a tacking strip B and a subsidiary channel A<2> to grip the lower coils of the peripheral springs or members connected thereto. The intermediate springs can be connected to the peripheral springs by channel bars G.
