Abstract

357,087. Surface condensers. P A R - SONS, SIR C. A., Heaton Works, Newcastleon-Tyne. May 15, 1930, No. 15012. [Class 64(iii).] Steam escaping from a turbine gland 5 is condensed on passing by convection through a vapour pipe 8 and the condensate returned to the feed tank through a drain pipe 4. The condenser is mounted in the vapour pipe and comprises a coil 16 of copper &c. through which air or water is circulated. Buffers may be arranged to deflect steam across the cooling surfaces.
