Abstract
356,405. Slicing machines. FITZPATRICK, H. D., 94, Hope Street, Glasgow.-(Naamlooze Vennootschap Maatschappijtot Vervaardiging van Snijmachines Volgens van Berkel's Patent en van Andere Werktuigen; 33, Boezemsingel, Rotterdam, Holland.) July 28,1930, No. 22637. [Class 28 (ii).] A slicing machine has a stacking mechanism including a rotating conveyer which is brought momentarily to rest at each slice-discharging operation of the fly. As shown, the conveyer comprises vertical spiked members 6 depending from a quadrant 8 having an integral boss 9 loose upon the shaft 10 which is constantly rotated by chain and other gearing connecting it to the handwheel shaft. An arm 32 is secured to the boss 9 and is connected to a collar 31 keyed to the shaft 10 by a compression spring device 30 so that when a stop 41 on the fly contacts with the arm 32, the conveyer is temporarily stopped. Normally the arm 32 is pressed against a leather pad 34 on an arm 33 projecting from the collar 31, and when the conveyer is released by the discharge stroke of the fly, the arm 32 rapidly reassumes this position. The fly is raised by a roller 37 which engages a cam 35 on the shaft 10, and when the roller reaches the steep drop 35b a compression-spring device 36 throws the fly forward. The fall of the fly is checked by a brake block 50 connected to the fly by a link 52. The invention is applicable to machines in which the fly rotates with the conveyer.
