355,992. Artificial teeth. KEMPF, W. E., 29, Seminarstrasse, Berne, Switzerland. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29247. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1929. [Class 81 (ii).] An interchangeable artificial tooth for bridge work, of the kind provided on the lingual, mesial, and distal sides with a groove for the reception of a backing member or mounting, is provided with a flat bar 17 passing through an opening 18 in the tooth and engaging in angularly arranged grooves or notches 19 in the wings 16 of the backing member 15. The major width of the bar 17 is disposed at an angle to the stress of the bite. The sides 8, 9 of the tooth extend beyond the side members of the backing to allow for grinding in fitting a tooth between neighbouring teeth. Two or more backing members may be soldered together and a single bar may extend through all the corresponding teeth.
