353,129. Spare wheel holders. PALOA, C. DE, 104, Via Madama Cristina, Turin, Italy. May 10, 1930, No. 14405. Convention date, May 10, 1929. [Class 136 (i).] A device for fastening a spare wheel or rim on the side of a motor car, and adapted to be released only from the inside of the car body, comprises an arm 7, Fig. 3, which is provided with a hook &c. 1 engaging the tyre &c. of the wheel &c. and is adapted to be traversed through a sleeve 11 in the side wall 5 of the body, as by means of a nut 6 engaging a screw-threaded part 9 within the car body, thus allowing the hooked part of the arm to be turned about a pivot 8 to release the wheel, as shown in Fig. 4. The wheel rests at the bottom in a recess in the foot-board &c. The nut 6 may be replaced by a different form of locking device, such as a cotter &c. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the tyre and rim are encircled by parts 7, 13, 15, the part 15 having an extension 16, the end 18 of which normally lies against a part 17 within the sleeve 11. In the outwardly-traversed position shown, the parts 13, 15 may be turned about pivots 12, 14 to release the wheel.
