Abstract

349,345. Water-tube boilers. FOUNTAIN, H. J., 6, Brun Hill, East Finchley, London. June 24, 1930, No. 19195. [Class 123 (ii).] Steam generators or waterheaters heated by waste gases admitted to a cup-shaped depression or close-ended recess in the boiler shell have a baffle composed of vertical water tubes for dividing inflowing from outflowing gases. In the form shown Field tubes E are provided having fins F to form a wall or the tubes may be flattened and a gas passage provided by arranging the long axes of the flattened portions parallel to one another over a part of their length. Thimble or open-ended tubes C, D are fitted to the depression. In modifications the baffle tubes are open-ended extending from top to bottom of a horizontally arranged depression.
