Abstract
348,736. Impact pulverizer mills. LUCAS, G. P., 156, Hamilton Street, Rahway, New Jersey, U.S.A. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6252. [Class 59.] In a beater mill of the type having pivoted beaters with removable heads secured by shear pins, the head 10 has a part 19, Fig. 5, extending across the end of the arm and a part 22 extending downwardly against the leading edge of the arm, whereby the shear stress on the head securing pin 12 is relieved. The part 19 of the head forms a tongue to fit into a groove on the beater arm 11 or vice versa, the dovetail being tapered and inclined to the axis of the arm. The depending portion 22 may be provided with a projection 20 which enters a recess 24 in the arm 11. The front edge of the head is inclined to the axis of the mill in order to accelerate the passage of material therethrough and the rear set of hammers may be oppositely inclined in order to feed back the material into the beaters. The head is thicker at one end.
