Abstract

346,902. Optical apparatus. BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO., 635, St. Paul Street, Rochester, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 15, 1930, No. 5178. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1929. [Class 97 (i).] Apparatus for photographically recording sound includes an arcuately curved slit lying in an axial plane and concave in the direction of projection so that the projected image is substantially free from curvature of field. The arrangement is shown diagrammatically in Fig. 11. As shown in Fig. 4, the slit unit 14 comprises a supporting disc 16, mounted on the inner side of which are two curved jaws 18, 181 held in place by screws and retaining members 21, 211, defining a narrow curved slit 22. A modified form consists of a spherical or cylindrical glass member covered with an opaque coating, a portion of which is removed to form the slit.
