346,061. Capacitance measurements ; indicating faults; cable joints. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK AKT.- GES., Mulheim, Cologne, Germany. Jan. 22, 1930, No. 2277. Convention date, March 4, 1929. [Classes 37 and 38 (i).] The dielectric properties of the coupling sleeves of laid or unlaid cables are tested by a comparison method which consists in connecting the test coating b of adjacent sleeves A, B, C in the ratio arms of a capacity bridge X, the cable conductors a, dielectric h and test coatings forming the comparison arms. The test coatings are insulated from the cable screws e by paper c. The test may be made by known bridge methods on one sleeve, the comparison measurement following. A signalling device, or a switch, may replace the measuring instrument in the bridge diagonal. When testing three-phase circuits all of the test coatings may be connected to the bridge and the signalling device arranged in the star point. When the test leads f<1>-f<3> are not in use for testing, they are connected to the sleeve casings. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises the application to testing high-tension leading-in insulators. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
