Abstract

345,160. Vehicle emergency exits. MCDOWELL, H. and COWIESON, F. D., 80, Charles Street, St. Rollox, Glasgow. May 31, 1930, No. 16867. [Class 108 (i).] Emergency exits for the upper deck of a vehicle comprise a section 1 of the front bulkhead hinged about vertical axes 4 and adapted to be opened outwardly into line substantially with the off-side flank 5 of the vehicle. A ladder 19 hinged about a horizontal axis 18 is adapted, when the section is shut, to lie interiorly against the section and when the section is open to be swung outwardly of the vehicle as shown in Fig. 4. A light 6 is provided as shown. Turn-bolt fastenings; emergency-exit fastenings; fastenings operated mechanically from a distance; multiple fastening.-The section 1 is adapted to be fastened by levers 8, 9 engaging in keepers 10, 11 and operated from the upper deck by a handle 12 and from the lower deck by means of a rod 7 and lever 13.
