Abstract

343,734. Watches and clocks. MURAYAMA, S., 94, Hayashi-Cho, Koishikawa-Ku, Tokio-Shi. Feb. 12, 1930, No. 4758, [Class 139.] Escapements.- An escapement comprises a scape wheel 1 with an endless zig - zag groove 3, the outside points 4 of this groove being squared, the groove coacting with a pallet 7 on a lever 6, pivoted at 8 and having a fork 9 coacting with a pin 12 on the centre of the balance wheel 10. A pin 14 beside the fork 9 co-operates with a notch 16 in a roller 15 on the balance staff 13. As the pallet 7 reaches each angle of the groove 3, the pallet is held whilst the pin 12 swings clear of fork 9, and notch 16 clear of pin 14. On the return swing of the balance, pin 12 and notch 16 unlock pallet 7 and it moves along another arm of the groove, whilst the scape wheel thus gives an impulse in both directions of swing of the balance. Figs. 1 and 2 show the balance wheel in different positions.
