Abstract

Chemically inert articles are made from malleable unhardenable steel alloys containing about 28-48 per cent of chromium and 0,2-1,5 per cent of carbon which maintain their ductility after heating or hot working. The silicon content may be 0,5-1,5 per cent, and small amounts of metals such as tungsten and manganese may be present. An example contains 33 per cent of chromium, 0,33 per cent of carbon, 0,6-1,4 per cent of silicon, up to 0,2 per cent of manganese, and up to 0,1 per cent each of sulphur and phosphorus.
