[Class 29.] Compression machines and systems.-The com-. presser and motor casing 20 of a refrigerating machine is resiliently supported by cables 34, Fig. 3, attached to a frame 35 rigidly secured to a housing 10 having a closed top, open base, and louvred side so that the casing and the condenser coil 25 carried by fins 24 secured to the casing are cooled by natural draught. The louvres in the lower part of the side are turned so as to direct air into the housing, while those in the upper part direct the air out of the housing. The operation of the oscillating compresser is regulated by a thermostat 61 in contact with the evaporator 12. The condenser coil, which is formed with portions 32 coiled around the inside of the housing, communicates with a liquid refrigerant reservoir 27 connected by a pipe 28 with the evaporator 12 which is combined with a water-cooler 10<1>. This cooler includes a vessel 46, the upper portion of which supports a water bottle 11, and an inner vessel 57 having a helically grooved wall, and from which the water flows through an opening 58 into the space between the vessels, the cooled water being withdrawn through a faucet 15.
