Abstract
342,067. Treating air and gases with liquids. CHAMBERS, C., Dale End Works, Birmingham. Dec. 6, 1929, No. 37433. [Class 55 (ii).] In dispensing apparatus for beer &c. using compressed air or gas stored under a head of water in a pressure vessel, an air purifier is introduced between the pressure and liquid storage vessels. Air passes from the pressure vessel 2 through a pipe 16 and diffuser 27 into a filtering medium, such as glycerine, c o n - tained in a tank 1 or in the upper part of the pressure vessel. The air is then divided into fine streams by a bed of non-corrosive metal turnings 23 contained between perforated plates 21, 24, and rises through the purifier to the outlet pipe 34. The level of the purifier may be regulated by cocks 30, 37. In a modification, the inlet pipe may end in a perforated coil immersed in the purifying liquid, or in a perforated pipe or rose arranged above and directing the air on to the surface of the liquid..
