Abstract
342,064. Blending wheat &c. SHIMWELL, F. E., 82, Fenchurch Street, and BRYAN, N. T., Dockhead, Bermondsey, both in London. Dec. 4, 1929, No. 37205. [Class 86.] In apparatus for blending wheat &c., the supply bins are each provided with a detector the operation of any one of which through the failure of the supply effects the stoppage of the apparatus. In the form shown, the detectors comprise pivoted, weighted members 21 provided with mercury switches connected in series in a circuit which controls a switch 28 for the motor 18 driving the worms 16, 17 at the outlets of the bins. On the failure of the supply in any one of the bins, the detector swings inwardly and breaks contact in its switch. The circuit also controls a switch 30, the closing of which on the failure of the current through the solenoid 29, sounds an alarm 32. The detectors may be constituted by light-sensitive cells disposed so that the material shields them, or the material may be discharged into subsidiary bins which are balanced, the failure of the supply upsetting the balance.
