[Class 64 (i).] In a water heater comprising a main tank A, a heating chamber C, a primary flow pipe D leading from said chamber through a flue G in the main tank and a branch F from this flow pipe leading into the top of the tank, a pipe structure I, serving as a baffle to control the circulation, is provided and water is withdrawn through the pipe E. Water is supplied to the chamber C by a pipe K leading from the upper region of the tank A. The gas burner L is controlled by a thermostat N in this pipe. The burner is also independently controlled by a thermostat N<1> in the bottom of the tank. In a modification, a branch connection K<1> to the bottom of the tank is provided. A thermostat N<11> may be placed in the pipe K. An electric beating element O, preferably controlled by a thermostat, may be fitted in the chamber C as an additional heating means.
