Abstract
340,730. Furnace doors. HIRSCH, KUPFER-UND MESSINGWERKE, AKT.- GES., Messingwerk, near Eberswalde, Germany. Dec. 3, 1929, No. 37043. Convention date, March 11. [Class 51 (ii).] In furnace doors operated by electric motors means under the control of electromagnets are provided for pressing the door against its seat when the operating motor is switched off, the electromagnets being energized through the motor switch. The charging opening of an electric annealing or like furnace is closed by a door 3 suspended by wires 4 and raised and lowered by an electric motor 5. Doublearmed levers are pivoted at 9 on each side of the furnace, the short arms 6 being normally pressed against the door by weights 8 on the long arms 7. The end of each long arm 7 is connected with the armature 10 of an electromagnet 11 secured to the furnace wall and the magnets are connected to the switch of the motor 5 so that when the motor is started the magnets are energized and raise the arms 7, releasing the door. Pins 12 limit the downward movement of the arms 7 when the magnet is de-energized with the door in the raised position.
