Abstract

340,673. Treating roads with liquids. BRITISH WAGON CO., Ltd., 23, Moorgate Street, Rotherham, and FRANKLIN, C. J., 384, Warwick Road, Birmingham. Oct. 26, 1929, No. 32548. [Class 107.] Rollers for rolling tar paving and similarly constructed road surfaces &c. are provided with means for spreading paraffin or other hydrocarbon over the roller or wheels, the hydrocarbon being fed from a reservoir to a distributing member the outlets of which are separately controlled. The liquid is supplied by gravity to the distributing member 3 from a tank 1 through a control valve 2. The member 3 may comprise a pipe running along the wheel or roller 4 at or near the top and provided at intervals with needle or other adjustable discharge valves 6. The supply near the edges of the roller may be greater than at the centre. The distributing-member may be mounted on links 8 or a spring device.
