340,384. Linear dimension gauges. KELLAR, J. D. B., 2, McLaren Road, Newington, Edinburgh. Nov. 26, 1929, No. 36153. [Class 106 (ii).] Relates to measures for use in the game of bowls of the type in which a tripod stand placed over the " jack " and provided with a pivoted measuring arm is employed and consists in making the measuring arm telescopic, in providing means for centering the device with respect to the " jack," and in providing a handle for operating the device without stooping. The telescopic arm A passes through a hub D having tubular arms B, C on either side of it, and mounted to rotate in a vertical bearing R carried by a tripod N. A block F passes through the hub D and is bored in two directions at right angles, one bore to allow passage of the arm A and the other being screwed to receive a handle J. The tripod is provided with a ring P for centering the " jack." In use the tripod is placed over the " jack and the arm pulled out until the pointer T engages the " wood." The arm may be fixed by screwing in the handle J to cause the block F to bind in the hub.
