Catches, ball-ended; stud fastenings. - A fastening for a handbag or the like comprises a non-circular protruding member 14 which is fixed by lugs 9 to a plate 11 on the bag, and a slot 7 formed in the flap 2 of the bag. A yielding ball-ended catch 17 which consists of a knob on a plate 18 which is supported on two springs 19, holds the flap to the bag after the member 14 is inserted. The slot 7 is built up of two plates 3, 4 which overlap as shown in Fig. 4. The knob 17 may be undercut to secure a stronger connection, and locking means consisting of a key operated cam which bears under the plate 18 in the locked position may be incorporated to prevent the yielding of the knob. The plate 18 may have two slots 7 which are fixed in line, one on either side of the flap, the plate being folded over the edge of the flap. Lugs may be provided on plate 18 which slide against corresponding lugs on the base plate 21.
