Abstract

338,332. Peter, W. Oct. 28, 1929 Carrying through partitions; leading into buildings.-A. device for leading cables into a building comprises coaxial pipes d, h, Fig. 1, which pass through the roof of the building and carry at their upper and lower ends respectively a terminal-box z and a fuse-box m. The terminal-box z comprises a centrally apertured socket b, current distributing members f and a hood a which is adapted to screw on the socket b. The socket b is secured to the pipes d, h by a nut n which screws on the upper end of the pipe h and presses packing against the interior of the socket. The upper end of the pipe d engages a circular recess formed in the socket b, preferably with the interposition of packing c. Cables g, which connect the current distributing members f to the fuse-box m are packed at the upper end of the pipe h by a rubber washer i' which is clamped between metal washers i<2> by a nut i adapted to screw on the pipe h. In order to connect the pipes a, h at their lower ends, a nut k screwed on the lower end of the pipe h is tightened against a closure plate t, so that a metal ring w, placed between the plate t and a cone r on the pipe h is pressed against the inner wall of the pipe d. A nut x which engages an external thread formed on the nut k connects the fuse-box m to the pipe h. In a modified construction the pipe h is replaced by short threaded tubes h<1>, k<1>, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper tube h<1> is secured to the pipe d by cones o and a pressure ring w. In order to secure the covering q of the cable to the tube h<1>, a threaded sleeve p is screwed on the lower end of the tube, which is preferably split. In both constructions the pipe d is supported by a tubular clip v which embraces the lower end of the pipe and is fastened to an angle iron u secured to a roof beam B. The axial thrust of the pipe d is taken by the closure plate t which is formed with a projection y for engagement with a slot in the angle iron u. The pipe d may be filled with a fireproof material, such as hieselguhr.
