Abstract

338,195. Clarendon Pressing & Welding Co., Ltd., Francis, G. I., and King, W. A. Aug. 15, 1929. Multiple rigid-jaw and ratchet wrenches.-A spanner for rotating a nut &c. and at the same time holding stationary a member associated therewith such as for loosening a gland nut in a sparking plug body comprises a spanner head and handle and an auxiliary spanner head mounted coaxially therewith and operated by a handle through a pawl and ratchet connection. The main spanner comprises two members 11, 12 spaced apart by distance pieces 15 and secured together by bolts 13, 14, the auxiliary spanner head 20 being mounted in grooves 18, 19 in the heads 16, 17. The ring 21 of the auxiliary handle 22 rotates on the rim of head 20 and is in ratchet connection therewith by means of teeth 23 and a spring pressed plunger 24. A spring 28 holds the handle 22 in position with a stop 27 up against the bolt 13. The head 20 is engaged with the gland nut and either the socket 17 or 16 with the plug body according as the gland nut is to be tightened or loosened.
