Open fireplaces.-A tiled surround of a fireplace is provided with a frame. 1 around the opening having lugs 4, 5 which engage in recesses 6, 7 in the concrete backing 3, in which they are secured by cement. In the construction shown the lugs are of wedge form, with bevelled edges, and are inclined inwardly. The lower recesses 7 in the backing 3 are correspondingly inclined, and extend to the bottom of the backing to allow the frame to be slid into position.
