Abstract

336,970. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). July 22, 1929. Roasting.-Chromium ores which are to be worked up, for example with alkali carbonate in the presence of lime, dolomite, or bauxite, are subjected to a preliminary treatment consisting in heating in an oxidizing atmosphere to over 800‹C, with or without the addition of a small amount of an oxidizing material such as sodium or potassium nitrate.
