Pocket igniters, frictional.- The igniter comprises an elongated fuel container 1 closed at the lower end as by a plug 2 and provided at the upper end with a passage for the wick-tube 6 and a recess 9 adapted to receive the holder 10 for the spring- pressed flint 11 and frictionwheel 14. The container 1 may be internally coated or lined to prevent the fuel coming into contact with the material of the container. The holder 10 may be held in the recess by spring tongues 16 and provided with projections 18 for engaging grooves in the recess or the spring tongues may be bent to engage the grooves. A detachable cap 25 fits over the upper end of the container 1 or an outer casing 20. The cap 25 comprises a chamber 27 for spare flints closed by a plug 29. A pin 8 adapted to be inserted in holes. 7 in the wick-tube 6 for adjusting the wick is fitted in a central hole in the plug 29, the outer end of the hole being filled with a coloured or luminous material. A spring clip 32 for securing the igniter in a pocket may be clamped between the plug 29 and the cap 25 or a spring clip, Fig. 6, comprising an apertured band 34 may be slidable between stops on the container or casing for use as a wind guard. Alternatively, the guard may be provided without the spring arm 36. The first Provisional Specification states also that a receptacle containing wool or other absorbent material may be provided in, and adapted to be extended outside, the container so that it can be dipped into fuel for replenishing the supply.
