Abstract

335,175. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). June 15, 1929. Manures.-The caking of granular fertilizers that are not hygroscopic is prevented by giving to the granules a coating of mineral or other oil which is insoluble in water and not volatile or only slightly volatile. The oil may contain in solution a water-repellant material such as wax, paraffin, or fat. The oil may be sprayed over the granular material in a mixing drum. Urea, potassium chloride-ammonium nitrate or mixtures thereof with ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulphate nitrate, mixtures of ammonium nitrate with calcium carbonate, and other mixed fertilizers containing ammonium, potassium, or sodium nitrate may be treated in this way. Specifications 1868/85, [Class 1, Acids, alkalies &c.] ; 9687/99; 168,070; 313,652, [Class 1 (iii), Oxides &c., Metallic] ; and 314,639 (as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts), are referred to.
