Abstract

328,208. Rushton, G. Jan. 18, 1929. Wheel scrapers.-A vehicle such as an agricultural tractor having a road wheel with spuds aligned in one or more circumferential rings around its periphery, is provided with a scraper having its operating edge directed towards a portion of the periphery of the wheel adjacent to one or more of the rings of spuds. The scraper may engage the periphery of a clearing ring which encircles and is of larger diameter than the wheel rim. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 2 and 3, two rows of spuds 11, 12 are bolted to the rim of the wheel and two scrapers 14, 15 are arranged one adjacent to each row of spuds. The scrapers may be carried by a shield 13 interposed between the wheel and the driver's seat. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 a clearing ring 16 is arranged between the rows of spuds 11, 12 and its exterior is engaged by a scraper 17 which forces it to the opposite side of the wheel axis.
