Abstract
325,543. Pollock, A. F., and Pollock, D. A. Nov. 21, 1928. Magnetic instruments; diaphragms. - In a moving coil loud-speaker, both moving coil and diaphragm are arranged to move angularly. The moving coil a, Fig. 1, is pivoted about an axis b, and extends between two like poles S of an electromagnet having an intermediate pole N of opposite polarity, so that the coil ends operate in separate pole-gaps. The vane-type diaphragm d is mounted on, and moves with the coil a and is framed by a baffle board f. In another construction, a plurality of coils a<1>, Fig. 2, connected in series, parallel, or series-parallel, actuates a single diaphragm d, the coil pivot being provided by torsion leads s. The coils a<1> may be in a common plane, as shown, or in angularly separate planes about a common axis, correspondingly disposed magnet poles being provided in the latter case.
