Electric plant.-In a lift system comprising a number of cages operating between the same terminals each in its own shaft, and having means for transmitting despatching signals to the cages at predetermined intervals of time and means for rendering effective to receive a signal the devices pertaining to the first cage only to arrive at a terminal, the transmitting means comprises an electric contact make-and-break device arranged for continuous operation independently of the position of the cages and having associated therewith an electromagnetic relay device adapted to be operated in response to a signal which may be despatched during such time as no cage is present at the terminal and to be maintained so operated until the arrival of a cage at said terminal in order to effect the receipt of the signal by the receiving devices of the cage upon its arrival at the terminal. Additional electromagnetic relay devices are provided, one for each cage, each of which has in its energizing circuit contacts which are controlled by the relay devices corresponding to the other cages so that it is energized in response to the arrival at the terminal of the cage corresponding thereto provided no other cage is present at that terminal, and when energized actuates its associated contacts to complete one or more circuits for rendering the signal receiving devices corresponding to said cage effective to receive a signal. Means are provided for maintaining closed the doors of all cages except that of the first to arrive at a terminal until the first arriving cage has left the terminal.
