Abstract

325,087. Brunton, J. D. Jan. 30, 1929. Hollow wire ropes.- A wire rope consists of a flexible tubular core 2 made of helically coiled strip metal for fluid under pressure, surrounded by strands 1. Preferably the strands and the wires forming them are pre-formed, and bed into the metal of the core or into a core covering which may be of hemp, &c., of material which does not readily adsorb water, or of insulating material. The core may contain a conductor or conductors for electric currents or impulses. The Provisional Specification describes cores of steel, iron, brass, phosphor bronze, aluminium, india, rubber, &c. wire, flat strip, tube, &c. which may contain a strand for operating a mechanical device.
